Three rights regimes in one corpus

Records from the period covered are in the public domain. Transcriptions, translations and metadata produced by the programme carry their own rights, released under licence. Data from third-party publications remains the property of its authors and is not reused.

Every published collection therefore carries a declared distribution regime, shown on its record and listed below.

Reporting and takedown procedure

Anyone noticing an error, a rights issue or a difficulty concerning a relative may request a review. The procedure is as follows:

  1. acknowledgement of receipt;
  2. immediate protective measure if the report concerns rights: the collection stops being publicly exposed while the case is examined;
  3. examination of the evidence, with outside advice if the stakes require it;
  4. reasoned decision sent to the requester, target time of thirty working days;
  5. correction made in the working database then propagated at the next publication, and recorded in the public corrections log without revealing the requester’s identity;
  6. no dead links: a withdrawn record keeps its identifier and its address, with a withdrawal notice.

Licences

Published data is released under a Creative Commons Attribution, NonCommercial, ShareAlike licence. The platform code is released under the MIT licence.

Reuse implies citing the programme and the version consulted: the Cite the database page provides ready-made references.
